PRINT

Print projects are where I cut my teeth on design & typography. I have been trained to build files in a way that the pre-press department should receive the files and see that everything is in good order.

Any photos that need to be color-corrected, need that task performed in RGB mode, and then later all raster images need to be converted to CMYK for printing. I make sure that all of the linked images are of high-enough quality for print (in general, 300 dpi for raster images). I also account for bleeds and margins when setting up and exporting files. I can provide PDFs with bleeds & crop-marks, or I can collect the links, fonts, and native files for the print vendor. There are many other things to check when sending a project to print. See my bulleted list of publication production and prepress concerns.

I also worked at a print shop for a while and have experience ganging multiples together so they can be cut from a larger sheet. I've done the separations and burned the plates that are used on press. I also set-up the kiss-cuts and perf-cuts in the vector files for use on the plotter (for vinyl graphics). I can also burn plates that are used on the press.
